hi

I have 2 hard drives on one IDE cable, one as master one as slave

the slave has decided to give up the ghost, as in windows still recognises, can copy individual tracks but any large amount of data it fails on

i have done the usual check disk defrag etc etc but it still doesnt want to know, so will throw it

however I have a large amount of material on there I want to save, would something like norton ghost allow me to pull all the material of

cheers

nigel

not sure if ghost will work, as it still has to read the data off it in the first place.

when you say large amounts of data, do you mean huge files or just lots of small files ?

if its the latter then you'd have to copy little by little.

If its huge files, im not sure...what does scandisk say ?

have you tried running a checkdisk or norton diskdoctor on it yet?

make sure you do a full thorought surface scan.

scandisk is basically the same as chkdsk. if scandisk cant lock the drive it will schedule a scandisk on next bootup, which is chkdsk.

just interesed in seeing what it says

looks like your gonna be transferring songs one by one :(
