Hiya,

Sorry to be so vague here but I was wondering if anybody could tell me if they can see any problems with what I am doing.

I have a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P motherboard, I got 2 80GB Seagate Baraccudas in raid0 configuraiton using the boards intel controller.

I thought it would be nice to dedicate this raid array to my OS and its been working beautifully so far.

I took the hard drive out of my old system and fitted it into my new system recently, the drive is a few years old and I thought it would be nice as a file drive, its just SATA, not SATA-II.

When I plug it into a SATA port on my motherboard under the intel controller the post screen takes ages to recognise this drive, when windows eventually boots up and I try to use the drive it randomly freezes, not persistently but enough to be annoying.

I hardly used this drive on my old system, so I cant understand why it might now be fubar unless my mobo is not playing nicely with old SATA. I am ready to just buy another drive for my files.

Any gleaming problems? Thanks in advance :)

Doh, yes I do mean that, very tired, far to much left 4 dead I think :)

Well I did not think about that, could be possible although I just wonder why when it posts and the intel controller lists my connected drives, it stops for about 30 seconds right before listing this last problem drive like it had a hard time detecting it.

I am not sure I trust it :( I guess hard drives are 2 to a penny these days so I might just pick up a new modern HD but it seems a waste of metal to me.
