Hey guys,

Basically my laptop broke down a few days ago, I tried using the HDD from that for my desktop, It will not boot up for some reason?

I was told on previous threads it would work fine, is there any reason that it will not boot up fine and run?

If a laptop hard drive will not work, which size hard drives work fine 2.5 or 3.5"?

Any replies would be good, thanks.

Little update, when it is about to boot, comes up with this message.

Ultra dma mode-5 S.M.A.R.T capable but disabled.

Okay I just found the "smart" option in my bios and enabled it, it did not do anything.

The message on bootup is now - Ultra DMA Mode-5 S.M.A.R.T. Capable and status OK.

I am not sure what to do..

Also, here is a little thing to what it is showing on my monitor.

You know when you see this screen pop up.. http://gyazo.com/98e101b4d4a5be5d8e7232fcfe2906c7

I am only getting the top white bar. Not the full of that screen. Not sure what I can do to fix this.

Alright that's great I'll do that then will I have to wipe my HDD first though? I got a lot of important stuff on there, that's the only bad thing!

I will be using from my laptop.

I don't have a hdd in my desktop the only one I have is my laptop one, this has everything I'm going to use my desktop as my laptops are completely screwed lol. What do you suggest I do?

Basically I got it sorted for transferring files, only bad thing is installing windows to the hdd on my desktop as I don't have a dvd drive atm as I have been upgrading but I have a disk I spose I can copy to my other laptop and put files on usb and install from that?
