Hard drive Problem

I recently bought a hard drive for my desktop. Just tried to install windows 7 ultimate on it, it is a 160GB HDD, not a lot but can do for the moment, then when I get to the install stage of choosing the HDD to install windows too.. It shows 125MB, I am like? Hang on why is this happening, If anyone knows the fix, please give me a reply, thanks.

strange,should show 149gb according to this,you always have less than stated due to how microsoft calculates space

have you formatted it in ntfs 4096mb alignment ?

maybe a duff drive? What filesystem is it formatted as? It is normal to have a separate 100mb partition on a drive after installation because windows will put its system files there unless you tell it otherwise, but that wont be the case if we are talking pre installation

Not formatted or anything, hooked it right up, then basically went to the setup and it shown that.
