Just the other night i had one of my hard drives stop working all together but it seems to have come back to life again, as it was only a back up drive there is no big worry at the moment over any data loss. Although i was wondering what my next course of action should be? (currently have an old 200Gb - still works fine and the 320Gb one that deid or is dieing)

I am considering getting 2 smallish drives 100-200Gb and putting this in a RAID 0 for windows/games and binning my current 320Gb drive. I will use the older 200Gb one as a back for important files.

Can anyone suggest any better ideas? and what drives would you suggest to put in a RAID 0? Are the F1's still the best around (excluding solid state)?

Have you ran any HD tools to confirm said drive is dieing/dead? Could be a problem elsewhere e.g. faulty IDE/SATA & or power cable(s).

But if you must get one, 320GB since you can get single platter ones ;)

Yeah i ran a SMART scan using speed fan shows the drive at 50% fitness. Im pretty sure its the drive its self as you can hear very loud clicking noises and sometimes what sounds like the reading head getting stuck on the platter.

Would you suggest : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-057-SA&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=768 ?

Not really looking to spend much would a RAID really show that much more performance if i was to get two of these drives?
