Hard Drive query

Forgive me as this will be incredibly simple for some of you.

Basically i need to replace a hard drive on a desktop thats gone bust. Am i right in thinking that i will be ok to just replace the hdd and get a copy of windows and that will be that?

Or do i need to get drivers for the motherboard etc before i can load up windows? The problem is that i havent got a clue where all the original disks with the drivers are.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

When I've replaced mine I just plug it in and install the OS.. doubt you'll need drivers for it.

Windows will have most drivers built in butthey may not be the latest ones.

You will be able to get newer drivers from the support page of the motherboard manufacturer.

The main driver I always get is for the network card just in case its not in Windows, that way you can at least connect to the internet once Windows has installed to get the other drivers you need.

As above really, windows is normally pretty good. I found 7 did pretty much all the driver work for me.

Don't forget Attu90's advice though mate, grab the network card driver and pop it on a pen drive just in case. Guarantee yourself internet access and any other problems are easily solved.
