Hi, I'm looking at getting a second hard drive to stick in my desktop purely for data storage to serve media files to PS3/360. My motherboard is an Abit AN7 Guru nForce2 Ultra..

I want a 1.5 TB model, what would be the hard drive of choice around here to serve that purpose? The cheaper the better preferably..

Any recommendations would be much appreciated..

Thanks!

Do you mean the Samsung EcoGreen F2 1.5TB Hard Drive SATAII 32MB?

It's a 'green' 5400rpm drive, how much of a performance penalty is that in reality?

I know it's cheap, but is this drive any good or would you recommend spending a bit more?

Thanks

None that you will notice TBH.
If its just for storage, why have it sitting there using more power than it needs to.

be aware that at some places it used to only have a 1 year warranty, check it comes with 3.but it is practically the same speed as f1s and 7200.11s and the like because of higher platter density.

Thanks for the replies..

OK so I've narrowed it down to the Samsung as suggested above and the Seagate ST31500341AS 1.5TB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 32MB...

The Seagate is £10 more, is it worth shelling out a bit more to get the Seagate? Or would the Samsung be the better option?

Also, are 1.5TB drives generally reliable or is it still too early to tell?

Thanks

Ive got two of the 1.5TB Seagate 7200.11, ive been really happy with how well their working, but that said the samsungs are good drives too.
