Just a quick question.

I have been given a PC to look at, it has a 120GB hard drive in the system, but in windows "my computer" is shows only as a 7GB drive, with 400MB free space.

In Disk managment, it shows as 111GB and healthy

Any suggestions as to why its being reported wrong..

whats the OS?

XP needs a service pack install to show drives bigger than about 110-130 (can't remember the exact figure)

(ninja edit)

still wouldnt cause the disc to be only 7gb though. i think even Windows 95 could recognise more than that

i think whoever ran the setup made an error and didnt set the partition to use all available disk space.

You'll need to use partition magic or some other disk imaging tool to stretch the partition, or re-install with XP SP1 from scratch to take full use of the 111gb

It's a strange one,

as stated, when you goto control panel > admin tools > disk management, it shows 1 partition of 111GB and its all used and showing healthy.

In my computer its showing as 7GB ..

The pc is a bag of crap anyway lol...
