At the moment i have 2x 120gb s-ata seagate drives and a samsung 640gb F1.

Both seagates are nearly dead so i will be sending them off for replacement under warrenty, not sure what il get back but assume the same.

In a month or so il be building a new pc and was wondering what stuff to put where.

I was thinking

120gb - Windows plus applications
120gb - Games
640gb - Media, Back up of data etc etc

Does that sound like the best option?

or perhaps raid the 120gb's together for Windows and applications and use the 640gb for games and media etc.

I'd use the 640GB for Windows/games/media and data drive as its easilly the fastest out of your drives. The 120GB I would use for backup of important stuff!

Only problem if u can call it that with doing that, is that i would have thought windows would boot slower. Ideally i want a nice fast boost, which surely an almost empy drive would be the fastest.

Yes, but the 640Gb is substantially newer technology and runs a lot faster. So it would be faster to install everything on the 640gb.

The WD is much faster so it will boot faster, what's on a drive makes no difference to speed.
