Is there any way to make my hard drive silent? as it is making an annoying noise when the computer is accessing it.

Silence is hard to achieve with a mechanical drive, but you can do things to reduce the noise and vibrations. For example mounting the drive on elastic to isolate it, that way the vibrations it produces don't get transferred to the case. Plenty of products on the market, but I'd suggest getting some industrial elastic (don't use elastic bands, they don't do well in a warm/hot computer case and easily snap).

Lots of good info here: http://www.silentpcreview.com/

How old is your HDD? I have a Samsung F3 (not connected at the moment) but I could only hear it with the case side off. Maybe just get a new drive!

think a lot of hard drives suffer clicking noises after been first installed then re-installed (maybe in same place, maybe in a different place) as it's back in november you bought it i'm unsure to whether or not the manufacturer would accept a return on it but it's always worth contacting them and seeing what they say, if they just fob you off then you could break it and just return under the years warrenty lol

(joking on the breaking part)

Scan it make sure its ok and if it is and you have room maybe try bungeeing em?
Mine were deadly quiet when I bungeed em in my last case.

Links to two of the bungee mods I've done

Desktop case
Standard atx case

do a google images search on 'bungee mod spcr' for loads of other examples

You usually need an enclosure to stop the seek noise.
The two I've used are below (GUP on the left and silentmaxx on the right)
The GUP will keep and old raptor quiet

I'm pretty sure I won a hard drive mount that claimed to increase cooling and decrease noise at a lan last year. Can't remember the name/make/brand or anything (as I thought it was a bit of a gimmic) but I'll post the details of it when I get home/if I can find it.

How do I bungee them?

Easy enough mate :)

Get some heavy duty elastic.
I went to a fabric store and got about 10m of elastic, I made sure to get the rounded one not the flat one.

Take each drive bay 1 by one and thread the elastic thru the screw holes or any other holes so you have an O shaped loop attached to the mountings.

Do this where the front and the back of your HDD will sit, ofc if your using the screw holes then it will be lined up already :)

I twisted mine a few times to get a stronger hold as the case at the time was being moved around a fair bit, then simply slide the HDD into the loops.

Thanks :)
Turns out my dad has a spare bungee net in the garage so I'm gonna cut that up and try it tomorrow.
Should I do a mini build log/ beginners guide type of thing?

soft mounting works really well for reducing seak noise, i can barely hear my hds accessing, while its very noticeable on my dads. different cases, but the real difference is the mounting, his screw in old style, mine are in a antec case with the silicon gromit/washer thingies :)

+1 for the GUP enclosures. I have both my HDD's (Samsung F1 and F3) wrapped in them and they are almost 100% silent.

I tried the bungee mod (using round elastic, then flat) and wasn't that happy with the results, but then I do have very sensitive hearing.

Just did the mod, and it works :D I can only slightly hear it now :)
I may end up buying one of those enclosures though.

Your not supposed to block the air holes in HDD's are you? Which is effectively what these enclosures do isn't it? I'm considering the GUP but this concerns me, that and the price, damn.
