Hey,

I reinstalled Windows recently and upon reformatting the hard drive my 250GB Seagate now only has about 120GB. There are no other partitions, and when attempting to reinstall Windows yet again it still only has 120GB~. Is this space recoverable or it doomed to oblivion?

Right-Click on My Computer
Select Manage
Select Disk Management
Select the disk in question.

This view will show you all paritions and any free space on the disk. Is there any unused space on the disk?

If you are unsure what you should be looking for post a screen shot of the Disk Management tab

Your Windows XP CD, does that have SP1 or SP2 slipstreamed or not?

Because you need at least SP1 to see the full capacity, without that Windows can only see 128Gb iirc

You can make a partition from the unused space like Mujja said.

127GB, wonderred same thing, installed xp 32bit after having x64, wonderred if i had 1/2 a hd of bad sector :s

Sorry I didn't reply back to this sooner, I completely forgot until I saw it in the thread list! :p

It turned out it was my new motherboard BIOS which has tonnes of silly issues with hard drives. I reverted back to the previous BIOS and it was fine. :)
