hard drive space is wrong

hi

just bought a seagate 7200.10 250gb

but when i install windows the max partition i can create is only 131gb, this was the same on my last hard drive but that was only 160gb so just thought it was normal

anyone have anyidea how to fix this dont really wanna loose over 100gb space

my setup is
pentium d805, p5n-e sli , 2gb team xtreem 6400 , bfg 8800gts 320mb , tagan 480w
