hey folks..... im new to this so i shall appologise if i use incorrect terminology and seem pretty naive (sp?)

i have an Acer Travelmate 2313WLMI laptop which has 2 hard drives which are 17GB each, my question is this, would it be possible to swap my main hard drive which the laptop runs off of to one of these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-136-WD&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=304

as far as i can tell the hard drive above is compatible with my laptop, am i correct?

how easy would it be to do? would i have to get some sort of a program to transfer all of the programs etc that the laptop runs on onto the secondary hard drive until i installed the new drive?

Any help would be muchly appreciated

thanks

I'm not sure whether that HDD would be compatible with your laptop or not, but it's my personal opinion that it's not really worth screwing around with the hardware in your laptop, in most cases it's a highly risky business as they are so precisely put together. I think it's usually worth just buying a new laptop, but that's just what I think, there may be loads of people here who can fully recommend lappy upgrades and give you step by step guides, but you know where I stand! ;)

I see now reason why not, Laptop drives are easy to change, are you familier with installing a new operating system and backing up your data, if so go for it.
not sure if your lappy can take a 7200rpm drive but if it can which it should be able to, pay abit more and get one, should make a difference over a 5400rpm drive even with a celeron, another more important thing to do is install more memory makes a world of difference on a lappy.
