hi,

i have a laptop here im trying to fix for a friend...basically the windows seems to have gone corrupt. since the cd rom drive in the laptop is dead, i plugged the drive into my computer thru an adpater. it now shows up in my computer as drive f:, but if i try explore is says not accessible, the drive is corrupt or unreadable. i have a few files on it i need to save befoe i can reformat and install windows on it again. any ideas on how i would do it?

thanks

Yes possibly if not actually broken, this saves my bacon and 2 others here who I helped, its not free unless your files are 64KB or under.

Dont waste time with others as most are undelete apps this revoered a HDD that was appearing as RAW after mobo fried and wiped it.

I got back all my data.

Do not run in quick/fast mode and also let it search for deleted files, takes longer but better recovery, once found it will have big list of files, you hit radio buttons to list by name or type A-Z or Z-A etc, or if better for you, you can change to a TREE view like Windows Explorer.

ok i dont it and its found loads of files. however when i try recover the files to les say a partition on my hardrive with 10 gig free space, it gives me some error saying the drive may be offline.....

What do you think I just linked him to above, and to OP, you cannot recover to same HDD as your on, boot to a spare HDD then reover bad one.

You need explain a bit more about your findings and fix typos cause its too important to make errors on this thread.
