Hi,

Our small company is looking to buy a new hardrive for our server. I have had a look around and found these:

200GB - Maxtor 6L200P0 Diamondmax

250GB - Western WD2500JB Digital Caviar SE

320GB - Western Digital WD3200JB Caviar SE 320GB

Does anybody know if these are a good match for a server which is used mainly for email and as a server to store clients files? Or if possible could someone suggest a better one?

Thanks

I personally wouldn't use either of those WD's. If I was to buy one for a office, it would be the RE editions which are designed for 24/7 usage.

I've had a look at our system and it is IDE...but its also Maxtor. I'll have a look at the Seagate one me thinks.

Thanks for the advice!

Seagate 7200.10.

Agreed. Or Western Digital Caviar RE 250GB.

edit; Just seen that you need IDE, so..;

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 200GB ST3200820A ATA-100 8MB Cache
or
Western Digital Caviar RE 250GB 2500SB ATA-100 8MB Cache

I have a pile of four maxtors 160 -250 gig that have all died on me. Now running Seagate but making sure I back up regularly now as I have lost to much stuff to many times.
