Hard drives powering down

While in windows I can hear one or maybe all at different times loosing power. The same noise they make (like a tick) when you power off a computer.

While on my computer and say I go to one of my hard drives It takes a few seconds for it to spin up before I can access it.

Is vista letting my hdds power down or something?

I have set power management not to ever put the disks to sleep so I dunno whats going on?

Mine does the same thing mate, I thought it was just mine, obviously not. What brand drives do you have?

Vista did the same on my rig, I turned it off in the power settings as it was really annoying.

Don't quote me on this as I don't use vista but I think by default the power scheme is set to power down your drives.

Just set it to always on or a higher time and it should be fine.

Yup it is, takes 2 secs to change it.
