Hard drives showing as RAW

4 of my hard drives connected via a USB dock are suddenly showing as RAW

Anyone have any clever ways to recover the volumes (originally NTFS)? It's not important data but is annoying if I've lost it.

I had this, it was not a boot drive but it is something to do with an index goes missing and some free small tool I ran fixed it without having to recover anything.

Sorry I cannot remember more but it was years ago.

Yea I googled but all results were from software developers touting their application so wanted some real world feedback. I'll give that software a go, cheers!

All you need to do is rewrite the Index/System Volume and it will be as if it never happened.

Or try this with Option #1 (CMD): https://www.anyrecover.com/external...x-raw-external-hard-drive-without-formatting/

That didn't work for me, the command is not recognised by diskpart.

I messed up my external drive and it became RAW :scream:

I loaded it on my macbook and it showed up correctly and I transferred it to a new external HDD which ironically doesnt show up in Win7 but does on Win10, bloody nightmare. But plan to upgrade to Win10 anyway, so no biggie.

this happened to me before.

rebuilding the file index was useless through diskpart.

i used a software to retrieve 90% of the data. most recovery software you can download as demo or time trial. see which one works for you.

I found this after scanning for 3 days to try rebuild the partition. Data recovery is working well enough, it's just about finding somewhere to put it now hah. One problem after another

Thanks everyone for your input. It really is non-important data I can just re-download it's just a schlep is all.
