What's people using now days?
I'm building a NV5 system and really want to use hard but just dont want to blow £100 and then end up going soft when i cant get the bends right.
is soft tubing still a thing..

how hard is it to use hard tubing.

Soft tubing is still a thing yeah
Epdm tubing is great
Something like ek zmt
Though don't think can get clear epdm
I even looked at the stuff people use in cars
As got much bigger variety of colour then
Ek zmt it's black or black or more black lol

Some people find hard Tubing easy
Some don't
You're likely to waste a load of tubing
Practising bends

And hard Tubing is more of a PITA
If got to remove something
It does give nice straight lines though

Could use 90,60,45 degree fittings
Instead of bends
A lot of people go that route
 
Another option
And have done it before to help someone
Find a forum member near you
Who knows what they are doing with bending
Throw them a few beers for their help
Ideally you should persevere and learn how
To do it though
So for future upgrades etc
You can do it yourself

the reply was short, but that's what im thinking.

i know with 1m of soft i can have the system up and running in 30mins, but if i go hard and buy say 3m then i have to wait 3 days for more to come when i **** it up.
But yer i do really want to go hard tube

Depends on your build too
If its only 90 degree bends then pretty sure
You can buy prebent tubing

The only advantage of hard Tubing I can think of
Is its aesthetics if your build will have
Straight and/or parallel lines
Disadvantages are cost since you may waste tubing
Which won't happen with soft
And tougher maintenance/upgrades

To be honest with ek zmt if you really try
It's possible to get almost straight
Believe someone had one in build logs
Or watercooling gallery
Where it was easy at first glance to think
It was black hard tubing

I am sure I will go for a hard tubing route eventually. However, I am yet to start another build and just want to have one up and running quickly. Put it this way, you will have to learn to do it at some point, you may as well do it next. You can always practice on one piece of tube and get good with a heat gun.
 
Soft tubing is easier, but harder to get looking nice in my opinion... but it does the job just as well.
Hard tubing is purely for aesthetics.

Seriously though
As I said already he's right
It's an aesthetics thing
Which is why the cost of custom watercooling
Is so expensive nowadays

To be fair
Vidars build does look nice he's not just
A pretty face :cry:
 
The cost is not the problem. Fittings are the same and tubing is not much more.

I think I’m just going to go for it. I have a few runs I can do before I strip the system so I can practice on them

Hard vs soft tubing fittings aren't the same! You'll need a whole new set if you're going from compressions to hardline. Not trying to change your mind, just something to think about.

Personally I'm quite happy with the aesthetics of a curved set of tubes, and the convenience and ease of fitting far outweighs my desire to try something different.

Think he meant the fittings were same cost
