Never saw this one coming thought the previously excellent dev (Flying Wild Hog) were trustworthy. But they released Hard Reset Redux on Steam today (85% off if you already own the original game or Shadow Warrior 2013 on Steam). The game is seriously downgraded graphically :( its missing a lot of stuff. I hope this is just fixed by patching otherwise its a very poor release when the 5 year old base game looks visibly better!

I'm a bit confused I've watched the video on pcgamer and the original looked great as it is. The new version (unless cherry picked scenes) looks worse imo. That camera bob is horrific.

Surely when a game looks that good a remake isn't needed until graphics have significantly advanced?

The images look softer, though in some of the screen shots I didn't think the comparisons looked all 'that' bad, but having said that they do seem poorer than the original - which is the important point. The AA appears to be improved, which was about the only real benefit I could detect, where as the change in lighting was the most noticeable negative for me. Hopefully things will turn out better over time.

Yeh its deffo downgraded, video shows it clearly, only got to look at the fps difference as well, 200% better fps on new version lol, when i first watched the video, i thought they got them mixed up.

£2.25 if you qualify for the 85% discount but those graphics are just not anywhere near the same level. I do not care if the AO is prebaked or not the volumetric lighting is now terrible.

Hope they can fix this somehow but it uses their new game engine so presumably unfixable which does not look good for Shadow Warrior 2 either :(

Shame as the original still looks pretty good for a DX9 title :D the dev has made a serious mistake here. They gave away the Exile DLC which was excellent a few years ago now they have taken their rep down a bit with this downgrade release

Yet the steam reviews are very positive. Sure that video is legit?

Can't say i have been impressed by any 'redux' games so far. Ethan Carter looked exactly the same to me.

No you need to add it on Steam to your cart (its free if you already own Hard Reset). The DLC is well worth playing if free or not ;)

Yeah, I already have HR, I'm just not certain in my mind if I've accessed the DLC or not: I may well have played it without realizing it (never have quite been sure either way). :)
