Hard vinyl flooring - Amico, Karndean, Polyflor?

I've used Karndean and Polyflor during my bungalow renovation.

The Karndean has been used right throughout the house. It was Karadean Opus - Weathered Elm (0.55 Surface Layer). In my Kitchen I used Polyflor Colonia Stone - Quarried Millstone (Gauge 2.0mm Wear Layer 0.2mm)

I've found both of them to be excellent and I've been really happy with them.

Here are some photos of the Karndean and Polyflor flooring from my bungalow renovation thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=26249483&postcount=51

Amtico flooring is extremely hard wearing. It is often used on the clothing departments in supermarkets and in colleague areas and usually still looks great years later.

As far as I am aware Karndean and Polyflor are equally hard wearing and a very similar product.

we put karndean down in our old house when we did the kitchen/dining room extension.

It was down for 5 years before we moved out and was very easy to keep clean and very hard wearing - from memory it was the 0.55mm.
It looked good the day we had it laid and still looked good the day we moved out.

If we were going to lay a floor like that again we'd be straight back to Karndean.

Handy.. Just the question I was coming here to ask! Looking at redoing my kitchen and these look the better option over tiles, just wondering how well they cope with a dog?

We've got two Pugs in the family that are over daily to my house and my floor has held up perfectly well. I can't say I've noticed any serious scratches caused their by claws. The Karndean I've used throughout my house has a slight woodgrain texture to it so it helps the dogs grip when they run about.

The only damage I've had since it was laid was when a small stone got caught under one of my internal doors and put a massive score into the floor when the door was opened. Unfortunately the scratch couldn't be polished out as it was to deep, the fitters I used simply cut out the effected slats and replaced them with new ones. It took them less than 5mins and my floor was then back to a perfect finish

Sounds like it's pretty hard wearing then. I think I'm pretty much sold on it for my kitchen floor, hopefully it can take the abuse of an over excitable Border Collie!

Just put 3 bedrooms worth of Amtico Spacia down in February and 3 bedrooms of Karndene down last week.

The Amtico has a longer Warranty: 20 years I think due to the thicker wear layer but both are going to last until it needs redecorating anyway.

Personally I prefer the look of the Karndene as the wood grain looks more realistic IMO.

The one we got most recently is Mid-Worn oak with 3mm design strips and a border and IMO it looks much better with a border than without.

I just had Amtico floors done in my renovation, after having Karndean in my previous house. I was told by my installer that I shouldn't be put off by Amtico being cheaper. He said the reason being they have a smaller range to choose from compared to Karndean. Quality is very similar.

I'm very happy with it anyway.
