Hi, i was possibly thinking of a new harddrive after seeing my HDtach benchmarks. I have a RAID 0 setup at the moment with 2 80gb 8mb caches:

Now i think the average read speed is good (its usually 89mb/sec)
but the Burst speed is rubbish! I just saw a benchmark on this forum from a guy with a 250gb spinpoint i tihnk, and he was gettin 250mb burst.

Is it worth worrying about or is the average read speed more important?

The 250Mb/s was prolly of a SATAII drive and it means very little, it is just the speed the cache can get and that is only 8Mb or 16Mb

You will never saturate the IDE or SATA bus in normal operation.

Your average speed is okay for slightly older 80Gb drives, I think my average speed with a RAID0 Hitachi T7K250 is ~110Mb/s and the dips in your graph prolly correspond with different partitions you have.
