I have an SSD and a 500 mb harddrive but the harddrive doesnt seem to be registering and its plugged in, do i need to put it in raid or something, if so how do i do this?

No it should show.. Have you had a look in the bios? if its not showing in the bios, make sure the power and sata leads are connected.
If the hdd is showing in the bios, boot into windows then right click on my computer and go to disk management and see if you can assign it a drive letter.

Okay its on there, how do i assign it a drive letter?

500mb hd eh? Bloody hell, going back a bit there :P Don't worry, i know you mean GB ;)

Is it a new drive? You'll need to format it in computer management.

Control Panel\System and Security\Administrative Tools
Then click computer management, then disk management. :)

Haha didnt even notice i put mb.

No it isn't.

In normal terms MB is 1024KB which is 1024B*1024B

HD manufactures use 1000 as their stepping, so a 100GB drive is significantly less when scaled with 1024.
