I have a Samsung F1 1TB which recently started going into PIO mode, I uninstalled/reinstalled the IDE channel driver which rectified the problem.

In disk management it tells me the drive is Healthy(at risk), So I have tried using error checking, Hdd regenerator and backing up the data and do a format on the drive. None of this has gotten rid of the Healthy(at risk) status of the drive.

any ideas? Should I bin the drive? Is the drive fine and it's just windows playing up?

Have you looked at the SMART record for this drive (use SpeedFan or HD Tune).

If nothing shows as a problem in the SMART record then open a command window and type:
Chkdsk /r
This will test the disk for surface errors.

The message you have indicates some i/o errors occurred reading the disk.
