Now I completed COD2 and COD3 on Veteran, Both GRAWS on Elevated, R6V on Realistic and Gears of War on Insane on me tod though I did cheat a bit with RAAM.

Halo 3 I've only completed on Normal. I really struggled with the first level on Heroic so god knows what it would be like on Legendary. Maybe I'm just not getting how to play it as I tend to just run in all guns blazing. (Would be up for a coop legendary massive session if anyone's interested? / sorry change of subject).

Anyhoo I was sorting out my rentals and added MoH which I've read is very very hard on the hardest setting and wondered which I thought were genuinely the toughest games I've played. I'm not counting the pussy cats which are Prey/Bioshock/The Darkness and I came to this as my order of toughness:

Halo 3 > COD3 > COD2 > R6V > GoW > GRAW > GRAW2

COD2 was tough but due to some ridiculous checkpoint decisions COD3 just beats it. R6V was very very hard until I found the shield and I personally didn't have much trouble with GRAW at all (GRAW 2 was insultingly easy).

PS, so as not to feel left out, how would R:FoM figure into all this?

You can't run in guns blazing on Legendary, you have to take it slow and steady on your own. Sniping helps an awful lot. Of course if you get in a 4 player co-op it's not bad at all.

I wouldn't say CoD3 on veteran was tough, just annoying but apart from that I pretty much agree with your list although I've yet to play GRAW 2.

R6V on realistic has been the hardest for me so far. Some of the times between checkpoints are huge and you sometimes get screwed over by a team mate dieing and not being able to get to them in time. Clearing a large section then not having it checkpoint til you cleared the next made some sections hugely frustrating.

Dantes theatre was very tough on realistic. Defend the oriential guy while he hacks the computer on the stage. Then when you do that they hide a few guys up on the ladders to try to make you die so you have to do it all over.

Thats the only shooter thats given me issues really.

Noober! :p

We have a squad of maniacs willing to help you co-op it!

Yep a team of Rambo's desperately trying to get the kills :D

Which stairs are you stuck on nokkon? Thats calypso casino I think. The most important think in the game is to always position your team where they can heal each other even when under fire. So when one gets dropped you just select heal him and he drops to his knees behind cover.:)

hardest fps game on the 360 is Perfect Dark Zero not in terms of gameplay difficulty but how hard it is to force yourself to play such an absolutely dog game..

as you can maybe tell, I didn't like it

Totally; I found that one of the hardest things was if you're team member gets into trouble somewhere where you can't get to him to heal him in time. Nothing worse than having to restart after your team mate dies.

The hardest part point blank for me was that darn part where you have to climb up level after level in open casino with no checkpoint until you're at the top... Getting up the first escalator alone was a nightmare

In the big where you battle up the stairs, you get past that then you go past twin fish tanks (left and right), you walk out into a rectangular landing with guys on the right and left, you kill them and there are stairs leading down on the far end. You get down the stairs and there is a casino with loads of people in, kill them and more people repel in from the roof, kill them and there is a door at the far end again (below where you originally came in) and more people in there.

Just very annoying.

Yep I remeber that bit. The bit with the stairs that are broken. They come out of side rooms and have MG emplacements. Nightmare bit. As you work your way up they come from all directions. I hid my team mates in a back room to keep them out of the way while I cleared the floors :D

Yeah I know the bit it a pig, a long time to checkpoint. Personally I think it's one of the few games that still makes you work at it like older school gaming. Unlike say Biopap which is a walkthrough.

I've read critism of R6 because people "didnt want to keep repeating sections when they die" and that dieing was annoying because you had to keep replaying.

I'm not very far in to Resistance but I have to say I nearly didn't get off the first level. Annoyingly frustrating. But then when you get the regen health it becomes a lot more reasonable.

People say Bioshock is easy, and when you're tanked up on firepower and plasmids it is. But I wonder how many took out their first Big Daddy without a single death?

But the game itself is very, very easy. Death is completely irrelevant, if you die whatever you were fighting is still at whatever health it was at and you lose nothing by dying.

Resistance seemed a bit tough in places but nothing too bad, I never finished up the single player campaign before I sold my PS3 though. I think I got maybe half way.

Killing the daddies wasn't a challenge, even the first one without firepower was easy enough.

I read this article on basically what a joke bioshock was....

I agree totally with the guys assesment of the game. Its like a kids game, keeping those of little attention span happy by giving them basically a walkthrough. It might as well have been one FMV.

I prefer a really challenging game but the ability to save points myself.

I'd say CoD 2 was my hardest, got to D-Day on Veteran and just gave up.

Done Halo 3 on legendary with a mate. Did it on heroic on my own. Did GoW on Insane on my own aswell.

Halo really comes into its own on higher difficulties. Normal is pants as it is just too easy, while heroic and legendary need some tactics.

Im currently playing COD2 on the xbox360 atm on veteran, and it is really, really annoying me lol. I get so far i can smell a checkpoint then *BAM*. Cheeky german sneaked behind me and hit me with his gun :(

Still ive done about 75% of it :D

Got to say COD 2 on veteran, its just not fun. Im past half way and I will finish it one day, but Ive not loaded it in months. Dont generally bother with the hardest levels on games, as its just not enjoyable. I dont like them being too easy, but I take no pleaseure in dying over and over and over again.
