Hardocp COJ article

I take it you mean the FPS difference and not the image quality :p

The textures and lighting are a lot better in dx10 but yes the fps difference is quite high :p

'Only the US version has DirectX 10 enhancements, still no patch for the rest of the world'

Taken from a review on geforce 3d, which means that the copies ocuk are shipping out are most likely american and come with dx10.

I just thought, why run CoJ in DX10, sure it looks better, but 23fps average sure aint playable

2nd'd, I hope it is only a bug, surely this is DX10 immaturity and the cards are processing the DX10 enhancements inefficiently (I hope).

Must be, Bioshock flys in DX10, I cant see how those graphics in CoJ would cause performance to be that low tbh, even CoJ in DX9 does not run very good, yes it's playable withf ramrates going to 100+ especially in that mine, but some places it dips to 23fps even in the DX9 version when there is tons of grass, plants and trees about, you would think they would improve the DX9 version before going onto dishing it out with DX10 :\

It's a badly coded and poorly optimized game, that's why it runs like ****, even in DX9, playable yes but no where near as good as it could be.

offtopic: willhub, how's the noise on that 2900 of yours? - thinking of doing a build for someone and am tempted to go for that over the 8800 because of the immanent 9800 release.

It certainly has the power/fps with these latest drivers.

Well, for me it's pretty loud, unusually on these 7.8 drivers it's louder than it has ever been, going to 50%+ fan speed in Bioshock and MOH:A, but I can limit to 31% fan speed for games and it will be about 85 degrees load which seems fine based on the temps of my 8800GTS.

I dont really think it it that much faster over my 8800GTS 640 I had that was clocked at 650/2.2.

Other people will disagree with me on the fan speed though, seems like most people's fan never goes above 31%, mine dont much, but it's louder for me than everyone else, I guess it may be my cooling, if your gonna do a build with this card, get an Antec Nine Hundred or some case with beast of a cooling.

Idle temperatures are lower than my 8800GTS though.

Tbh, if you're playing a game with the sound at a decent level, you proberbly wont hear it, or any of the PC.
