Hi all.
It's been some time since i build a pc and I'm bewildered by the options and lelvels of power hardware comes in these days.
I'm really hoping some tech guru can help me out here.
My PC is knocking on a bit and I'm about to subscribe to the Adobe Crative Cloud, mostly for photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat.
However, I'm not sure if my PC can be upgraded to be suitable for the software.
This is my setup below and I have also posted a link the the Adobe software spec.
My PC Spec

Adobe software spec

Can anyone advise me please?
Could I upgrade the Graphics Card, RAM, SSH or is this PC (motherboard) just not up to it?

I really look forward to your advice.

Thanks
Andy

Why not just post your current spec on the thread ... people may not want to follow unknown links.

Do you *need* Adobe ? Is it actually required? or are you wanting something to simple edit photos?

Personally, I wouldn't subscribe to it anymore, I dont think its value for money.

There are other software options out there which are considerably less outlay moneywise overall and offer the bulk of the features that Adobe has ( Affinity Photo / Designer / Publisher Suite for example ).

As for specs ... any modern 6 core or more CPU, 16GB ram ( preferably 32GB ), any nvme drive, and a GPU with 8GB of VRAM would likely see you fine.

or buy a mac mini m4 with a 512GB storage upgrade and call it quits ... as that would run all that you need in a tiny package.

Yes, you're both right. I uploaded a screenshot from my pc using speccy which creates an image of my pc spec.
I'll post just the spec a bit later when I'm working on my pc.
Good thinking guys because I really do need some advice on this.
Thank You
Andy

To be fair your pc is old and it would probably be best to build something new but that depends on your budget.

What's the most demanding thing you do on your pc

Th most demanding thing is working with Photoshop. I could build a new PC bu my budget is the issue hence t he reason to see if I can upgrade my current one.
I've built PC's but years ago and things have moved on so much. I wouldn't even know where to start regarding Motherboard, CPU and Grapgics Card, etc.

Adobe Photoshop system requirements and e stated on there web page, but as for the cloud stuff I don't know.

A direct x 12 GPU is required so you may be able to upgrade you GPU but that will depend on your PSU.

I'm going to tag a few members in that may be able to help you further.

Thank you mickyfinn - that's very much appreciated.
I really don't understand the hardware anymore.
The actual pc is a DELL Vostro 270
If there is a more up to date and capable DELL PC i'd probably go for one of them (used of course) because I've had no problems with it at all.

I would strongly recommend you go with a non mass produced machine (ie not Dell or HP) as custom machines are as good and more flexible with upgrades down the road.

You'll need to give us a budget first before we can say anything.

Your PC appears to be meeting the minimum requirements. What makes you think it won't work?

Looking at your spec, I feel it would run a lot of Creative Cloud. Where it won't be adequate is for some of the new AI tools. What are you going to be doing with Creative Cloud?

I have an i5 laptop with 16GB RAM and it's running CC, but not the latest versions of Photoshop and Illustrator as it won't do the AI stuff.

Hi Radderfire - I will really only be using Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat, but I do remember seeing a notification about my graphics card not being up to the job. I'll have another look at it and report back. Thank You

Try using your current rig for the workload and keep an eye on system resource monitor and see which components have 100% usage - I'll be surprised if your RAM and CPU aren't at full usage.

Even a basic midrange PC will have a significant improvement in performance over your current system - for example, a 12400F, Z690 motherboard with 32gigs of DDR4 RAM and a 1tb SSD would be really really quick and not that expensive.

You could also consider a mid-range AM5 system - e.g., 7600X, 32gigs of DDR5 6000, B650 motherboards would be great.
