Hardware DVD player that supports MKV files?

As above really. Does any one know of a DVD player that I can hook up to my HDTV and play HD MKV files?

grrr sorry my fault, I was reading about PS3 Video 9 being able to stream MKV to the PS3 and fro some reason my mind decided today that the PS3 could do it on its own

....but.....the PS3 is still a good option if you use some software like PS3 Video 9 to stream it to the PS3.

The PS3 only supports 2 channel sound from MP4 containers (when using ps3 video 9) so it's not suitable if you have high-def picture with poor 2 speaker sound.

dantonkin I have been looking for something similar and they have a few that can play SD material in a MKV container but I have yet to find one that will play 720p or above.

I think you may need a dedicated media pc for this

Aye it is better in the long run to get a cheap media PC. You can spec one up for a few hundred quid these days and can do much more than just play a few files. Saves on DVDs too!

Regards PS3 research MKV-VOB conversion then you can transfer to a dual layer DVD etc. Its also meant to support multichannel audio from AC3.

hold fire i've read there is a new Sigma chip coming soon that will play .mkv, google it for more info
