hardware failure?

Ive had a XPC SN25P for a few years now (its been excellent, seen me through uni and taken some battering) but alas I fear the end is near. Ive recently been using it as a media center and mythTV box.

The other day I turned it on and nothing happened. The fans whir up, and I can hear the HDD's start up, but I get nothing on screen, not even a boot screen. Ive tried switching to a different monitor but no luck.

Am I just looking at a graphics card failure? or something more sinister?

to be it sounds like a gpu failure, Take the GPU out, and if it has onboard gfx try that mate.

well it could be the gfx, I have no way of checking as there is no on-board gfx, unless I get a new card.

But I tried switchin the ram around, I took card 1 out and put the 2nd in its place, and it booted up as with the original problem, then I tried card 1 on its own without 2, and the system started but was stuck in boot as the fans where just on constant high setting (usually they start on high and as it boots they settle down.).

there doesnt seem to be anything wrong with any of the capacitors.

so it could be the gfx and it could be 1 memory stick is broke. I might have to just buy a cheap gfx card off the bay and see what happens.
