Im a bit of a hardware noob when it comes to upgrading, about a year ago i got a new pc and ive had some hdd problems.
i got a sata-II drive and put it on my abit fatality in9 sli mobo, i also have a normal ide hdd for strorage etc, ive found that my pc takes aaaages to load windows, once my desktop is up i can hear my HDD revving like mad even though no processes show high cpu % or memory usage, im not sure if its the sata hdd or ide.
the odd thing is, games/firefox etc take a while to load first time round, but once they have been loaded once they are load fast until i fully reboot, if i just hibernate my pc then i have no issues, im not sure if that suggests a memory prob i have 8g ddr ram and a cure duo
when i use benchmark tools to test both hdd they seem to suggest they are performing as they should but i dont know what stats to expect and how my results stack up.
anyone got any ideas? what details would you need to get an idea on what the issue could be.
