Wasn't sure which thread to put this in. But I'm having major troubles with my pc atm it was working fine and went into standby/screemsaver whilst I was doing something I woke the pc up and and it wouldn't...restart this time I get Windows(8.1) error memory management error in kernel and something else. Tried roll back nothing tried windows auto recovery nothing so I thought ahh take the ssd out and reinstall windows on another hdd but this time when I turned it on it it turns out but I get no signal to screen no bios screen nothing. Reset my bios still nothing any help pleeeease.
 
Hi sorry for long reply I managed to work it down to the fact my ssd is kaput. So I've installed Windows 7 on to a normal hdd and it seems to be ok but now I'm getting bsods every 20 minutes or so and it says it's my memory does this mean my ram has died?
 
Now it's not even bsoding it's just not loading I get my bios screen then the black screen with white flashing underscore and nothing. Just stays there.
 
Got it to work again but bsoded again with memory_management error is this ram or hdd or bad installation because memory management was original error on windows 8 and that had worked fine for about a year.
 
Exray Ted my spec is amd 8320 8gb gskill ripjaw x(1 stick) gtx 660 and gigabyte mobo ds3970a
 
I took my ssd out because for some reason with that plugged it was causing boomgr error when I tried installing 7 on my hdd. And yeah that would be ideal shame all my friends are console fiends though haha.
 
Now trying an upgrade from 7 to 8 see if the elevates the problem if not looks like a very expensive shopping trip is headed my way -.-
 
Now on widows 8 I'm getting driver irql not less or equal or something why is this happening.
 
Before rushing to buy things to fix the problem start with the basics.

Reset your BIOS for defaults.

Test each stick of RAM individually using Memtest and let it run for at least a few hours on each stick.
 
I've reset my bios and nothing. I can't test ram because I only have one stick and only other pc in my house is an imac. And mem test can't do because my pc just in a boot loop.
 
It was ram replaced it with some new sticks and all is good now. Note to self g skill looks cool but doesnt last

You don't test RAM in windows.

You could/should have download Memtest on your iMac and burned a DVD/CD there to test on your system.

One of the things you should always have at your disposal is an up-to date Memtest boot disc.

Glad you got it sorted tho.
