Hardware report card: Nvidia vs AMD

Yes they released a fix for the kepler cards on the 1st of June, about a week after the issues were reported.

The issues were effecting multiple games and thousands of Nvidia users were complaining on Nvidia's support forums for MONTHS about it. I don't know if the fix applies to other games or not, Witcher 3 the performance difference became so exaggerated and ridiculous that Nvidia couldn't hide it and it was brought up on every forum rather than just Nvidia's forums.

It took them MONTHS to fix it and effected multiple games, it wasn't just one games and certainly didn't take a week to fix(unless Kepler performance still sucks balls in other games). Also the fixed drivers would be the drivers that had the TDR issue which again has gone on at various times with Nvidia drivers over the past 2+ years. Again Nvidia guys complaining about having TDR crashes on Nvidia forums. I think they had the issue for around a year then it seemed to go away, the come back from time to time and then come back much worse with the recent bout of crash happy unstable drivers from Nvidia.

If there is one thing I've learnt in many years of using GPUs... most people are a poor judge of drivers let alone objective judge of drivers :S

The old TDR issues were a hardware bug in GPUs based off the 460 and 560 including stuff like the GTX675m I have in my laptop. I had to keep it on an old driver for a few months (fortunately wasn't a problem as everything ran fine and there wasn't any games where I needed a newer driver for compatibility or performance in that time) and its been fine on any driver since - including the 353.xx that a fair few are having problems with.

I'd be fascinated to know what is causing the TDR issues with the 353.xx as I've been running several systems on those drivers lately without a single problem.

Without verification from other reputable sources it's pointless spamming it everywhere shankly. Gregster could easily have disabled AF on the Titan to get the AMD users such as yourself frothing at the mouth about it to get it to go viral and generate followers/views for his Youtube channel.

Frankly, there are so many discrepencies in that video (including the black crush/possible gamma difference I mentioned in the Fury thread) that it's probably as far from a fair comparison as you can get.

I mean just read the video description:

Yet another strange mistake to make if you ask me unless you're you know.. wanting to paint Fury in a good light in of all things a Fury thread and create a bit of hysteria around image quality.

Check latest video at 30mbs same issue.. And you totally correct it could be a driver setting like I already said to him.. And even ask for screenshot but I accept that he doesn't want to get involved, so here I am asking for others to test..

Funny that. If it was the Fury X with the lower IQ in the video the usual peanut brigade would be all over it.

Either something was wrong in drivers for greg or nvidia have done something in drivers. Either to boost performance or it is a bug.

Poor quality youtube doesn't remove texture.. Both games was recorded same setup/same hardware same upload..

Even ignoring that there is more motion in the Titan X part of the image (the blue sign is exhibiting encoded inter-frame motion) there is definitely a difference in the mipmap/filtering quality on the road - without knowing the users setup and settings though whether its an actual nVidia problem or user configuration or system specific problem is another matter.

Reason am asking for screenshot. If you watch the youtube video both players are running along.. The difference becomes very noticeable.

The difference is very noticeable if you watch the white line along the curb. It is very faded in the distance and transparent. You can even see textures beneath the white line which should not be visible.

Just to clarify a couple of points and then feel free to carry on the discussion.

I have only ever used Shadow play to record games and the first time I used a dedicated capture card was the same day I got the Fury X.

I installed drivers for the Fury X and that's it. No fiddling and I did the same for the Titan X. I used DDU prior to swapping cards.

When switching to the Titan X, The software for the capture card defaulted to 12mbs and did the same when I went back to the TX. The capture quality needs setting after every swap (unbeknownst to me)

I do it for fun and to show people what is what. I am a complete amateur but will get better with time.

That is all, carry on :D

Instead this being in the FuryX thread I think this one is perfectly fine.

All respect to Greg doesn't want to get involved in this on going debate.

But anyone running Nvidia and AMD would like to have a good conspiracy theory lets begin.

Game Bug on Nvidia? Same footage record with same Capture Hardware..

Regarding the white lines next to the kerb, looking back through some old screenshots from last year when I was running a 780. They look very much the same as the image above for the tx.

So it's either a game bug on nvidia hardware or nvidia is playing games :p

More games tested would tell a bigger picture. Either way it's not nice knowing it runs like that on nvidia hardware..
It's quite a big difference.

Hard to know mate tbh, it's obviously not a recent driver optimisation jiggery pokery to increase performance. I know nv did do some work not long ago that improved performance in bf4. But, the pics I have are from early last year.
