Hardware spec for WoW?

Basically you should be able to max it out, however the shadows in the game are so badly coded that it slows down even the best hardware. Its not an issue with the hardware at all, just a badly coded game.

The PC you want will be more than enough for WoW. Just expect some slow-down in Dalaran. But again, I wouldn't be disappointed because its a software issue, nothing related to your hardware.

Ok, great, thank you! It always used to slow down a bit when you got into busy areas anyway, so I don't think it will annoy me too much.
 
Get a low to medium machine, turn off shadows, they don't add much and just drop fps to groan levels, you're done. Dalaran FPS doesn't really matter, your FPS while you jump around aimlessly won't really get in the way.
 
ill post my wow later, it will make you go WOW ;)

you DO need a mean machine to run it the way i have it, and when you see it.....youll never wanna run it any other way.
 
The only thing that will kill your PC is Recount. It took me a week to determine why my good pc was being destroyed in the some of the intense fights

While not accurate, I'm sorry but I laughed.

But pretty much anything now will that's fairly modern. Though shadows (because the games engine is not exactly optimized) will kind of beat a system like a step son that's just broken his dad's new plasma.

An E2160 (second hand) or a cheap AMD machine would do the job. Okay, you'd maybe have to take down a notch or so. Even at 1920. Cata is revamping the graphics somewhat, but I doubt it'll make that much of a difference, because think of it - they'd lose subscribers if people suddenly couldn't run it. :p

To answer your question, I imagine it'd easily run it.
 
TBH Cr!spy if you're trying to use WoW as validation to buy a new gaming rig then you'd be better off picking another game :p

Like everyone else has said it'll run on pretty much anything, but to get the very best out of it then you'll need a decent rig to handle the shadows (but thats down to the coding).

as the wow debate has gone on for a while,

i'll just add my 2 pence that the Titan Xenomorph spec is really nice not just for wow but will do you well for many other games.

so even if it is overkill for wow you will have a very competent system overall.

Voltage whats this dx10 thing you was on about? I run the game on ultra settings at 1920x1080 with a i7 at stock (2.8ghz) and a 5870 + 6gb DDR3
 
Wow looks like crap and runs like a piece of pee. The shadows don't look great and don't make a huge difference, turn them down, it will look almost identical, the things that "make" a game, are texture and other graphics settings, the crap shadows barely register compared to the other settings.

Personally I can run 5 copies on a 4Ghz P2, with a frame rate limit on to cap the main screen 1920x1080 to 60fps and the 4 1280x720 windows, to 15fps(because I barely look at them, whats the point.

My 5850 at stock rarely goes above 60% usage, and my cpu usage is around the same.

FIVE copies, only on two screens which are downsized windows but rendered at higher res then scaled down. Sorry but its a very old game that any newer card will run with ease, if you can only get 30fps with maxed shadows on a 5850, somethings wrong with the setup, ok might be different in the end game zones and you'll have more issues in an ultra busy raid. Theres nothing taxing about WoW and anyone who thinks there is, is barmy.
