Just been on counter strike: source for the first time since installing my new x1900xt :D and my direct x hardware level now shows at 0 but software at 9.... :confused: is this a problem? if so what do i do to sort it?
 
Add -dxlevel 95 to the exe command line.. It will just initiate the new dx mode and save it.. You have to remove the command afterwards otherwise it keeps loading up with default -dxlevel 95 settings...

e.g. E:\Steam\steam.exe -applaunch 220 -dxlevel 95

It's been posted on the steam forums, its pretty common and that does fix it as I had the same problem myself..

You could also try -dxlevel 90 , you do understand where to put this right ?
 
Rather than editing the shortcut, can't you just add it as a launch parameter through Steam? Been a long time since I've used it so I could be wrong.
