Harmony Remote outbound connections

Shocked to see how many requests this device makes to pubnub.com:

Every 5-10 seconds it'll try a connection out, I blocked it via PiHole, and the remote works fine still - if anything, I half expect it'll have a moan when an update is sought.

Edit: these are figures for the last 24 hours btw.

That isn't for just your harmony remote though, that states 5 clients. Have you been to pubnub.com? It looks like something to do with Logitech and API's. Probably blocking perfectly legitimate traffic.

The bulk (at least 90%) is just for my Harmony remote.

All I could find about pubnub is that they work in conjunction with several providers, to manage IoT devices, or at least, that's one thing they do. I can appreciate it might need to 'phone home' every now and then to check for an update or whatnot - but prior to blocking it, the was just as regular; even when the remote was not in use.

It could also be doing something dodgy to keep a NAT session alive so that inbound stuff works.

Its more than likely some cloud based sync back to base so if you lose your remote you can buy a new one and sync the old setup straight to it.
