I'm self teaching this modules for further maths, but there's only one teacher in my school who knows it, and it's the head of maths. He's got the time to answer questions when I ask them, but not to teach me the whole course. If you don't know what D1 is, it's stuff like nodes, programming, dijkstra's algorithm etc

Just wondering so if there's anyone here who knows it, I can ask for help on here in the hope that they see it.

Thanks all :)

No, but I've done S1 and am doing M1.

If you are doing physics do M1, seriously it helps, killing two birds with one stone.

edit: Oh ok you do further maths

Me

I'm doing D1 along side the core maths for my A level this year and am being taught by a very good teacher.

If you have any questions, i'll help and if i cant i can ask my teacher for you.

When I was at sixth form we did D1 as an extra module so the teachers would know what it was like in advance of it coming in the next year. It was the easiest module ever, the test was like a child puzzle book.

Thanks mate :)

Strange how you guys are saying it's easy. The textbook is for an old spec, and doesn't make much sense to me. I was under the impression that it was quite a hard module :o

I only know a few people who have taken it. My best mate got 94, the other two got a C and a D.

It's good to know that if I've got questions I can ask here :) There's loads of info on the other modules online, but very little about D1.

I did this too (back in 2003) and it was the easiest module of the lot by quite a way. That was Edexcel though - I think different exam boards might vary a fair bit.

I've done.......
C1 C2 M1 FP1 S1 D1
A A C C B C

I'm doing
C3 C4 M2 FP2 FP3 S2

So I have done D1 but I only got a C because at the end of the paper there was a ****ing 30 mark simplex tableau that raped me.

So I can help you but simplex tableaus I cannot do (very well). The rest I'm alright on (I think) it was about 9 months since I last did any of it.

I found the Discrete (pretty sure it's the old name for the same thing) maths A level module really useful for certain parts of my computer science course at uni - gave a bit of a head start.

I'm doing it, in for an exam on the 24th but tbh i'm about half and half on it. Most of the graph stuff i get, but i can never remember which algorithm is which, and when it comes to Simplex i simply don't have a clue what it is, what it's supposed to do or how to do it.

Did it about 5 years ago in Further Maths, it's usually the easiest module but post a few things you're having problems with and I'm sure some people can help.

Wish I did!

I took Maths A-Level (MEI) and did C1 C2 C3 C4 S1 M1. Mechanics was soo easy as it's just GCSE physics, and Statistics I did well at but everyone else seemed to hate it .

My degree at University didn't require Maths A-Level, but those of us that took it are finding it dead useful. Unfortunately there's a fair bit of stuff we've done at Uni that was in D1 - so those that did further maths are at even more of an advantage!

One of the first lectures in a particular module was funny though: The lecturer assumed everyone did Binary addition & subtraction & multiplication at primary school, and Logic at secondary school. The look on peoples faces was panic-stricken!

Yes i did D1. i objected massivly, i was given the choice of D1 or a quiet room and an M2 textbook. i b*tched out, was very easy though.

have fun packing those bins and making those networks
