Has anyone done AS/A2 (A Level) Business Studies?

Only point to A level business is to do a degree, only point of a business degree is to do a MBA or DBA.

I passed with an A* and I took the final module early when I did business at college, it's mostly common sense at that level.

Nowadays it's difficult in industry to make a business bachelors count for anything, foot in the door is probably the best it'll get you because everyone and their mum has a BA in business.

If you're just after some business knowledge for your running a business, buy some books.

easiest course i did for my a-levels...it was also the best taught mind so that probably helped, only time ive ever achieved 100% on multiple modules though. An enjoyable subject imo (again, teaching quality helped) but never used it afterwards.

Looking at the syllabus it appears to be 100% exams with no coursework?

I can't really use my media degree to do a Masters - as I am missing all of the knowledge from A level to BSC level, I think I would struggle. Especially since my Maths is so dire also :/
I will read the book when it arrives and see how easy it is... for the price of £30 an exam it seems worth it?

I'd start the basics of accounting if anything, will always be useful if you're high up in a company.

What will you gain from sitting an exam? If you already have the job you don't need that on your CV, if you want to move on in the future it's likely the as/a level isn't even relevant when it comes round with the experience you'll have. If you want to learn just do it casually outside of work in your own time, there's no need to sit an exam to learn it.

Yes, and very interesting it was but it's not the sort of thing you'd do to further yourself in your own company. It's something you do becuase you need A levels to get into Uni and its an interesting subject.

Interesting is the last thing I'd describe it as. I did it because the GCSE was easy.

I have an A level in business studies (the AS/A2 route), and I don't think that actually running a company will help you answer any of the questions on the exam at all.

If that is the case then obviously it will teach me something, which is great!

I guess this boils down to education - it never stops for me, unfortunatly I don't have time to go on another 3 year degree / masters, no do I have the £40k it would cost spare.

I did it as an AS purely to get the required number of UCAS points to get into Uni and found it pretty easy (also got an A). Is there not an online or evening course you could do which would teach you what you need as you don't really need the qualification itself?

yup but your time also has a cost associated with it and wasting it on some A-Level when you've already got a degree would be a shame...

since you're running your own business and doing this for knowledge rather than to gain an actual qualification/bit of paper then why not check out the following:

https://www.coursera.org/course/marketing
https://www.coursera.org/course/finance
https://www.coursera.org/course/accounting
https://www.coursera.org/course/operations

free courses from the best business school in the world... essentially some of the introductory parts of their MBA... after that, I'm sure you're resourceful, go find some more MBA material online..... there is stuff out there. Like someone else said - it sounds more like 'business administration' you're after and since doing an actual masters isn't an option the next best thing would be to cover a lot of the same material anyway through self study.

I don't think it would teach you anything that would help you in your current position, or open any doors for you career wise though. I honestly don't see what the benefit would be for you, there are much more appropriate courses/qualifications you could do.

What did you think of it and what age were you? I signed up to sit AS exams in June, now I already have 7 GCSE's + 3 A levels + a Degree, however I am hoping to learn bits that I do not encounter running my LTD, such as risk analysis and HR. I just wondered what people think of it? It is with AQA.

I am hoping to do another degree when I move to Chester:

Notice the utter lack of e-marketing modules on that course, no mention of e-commerce and next to nothing on the importance of MI. A modern business degree that has no mention of e-commerce and digital marketing would suggest a course being run with no real idea of modern business.

What does your company do?

There's no reason I can see to need to do a business A level to help run a business.
I did a computing HND, I now don't use that within any aspect of my business.
I know learning never stops, but why pay for it when you have the perfect opportunity to just learn by doing?
