Has anyone else noticed how good the new C class looks?

What has price got to do with my opinion on how good a car looks?

'CLS > C class' didn't indicate to me that you were talking about looks only.
Even if you were talking about looks only - if price wasn't a factor then, you could have posted any car deemed nicer than a C class. Posting that a CLS is nicer than a C is kinda stating the obvious because it is a much higher class of car and a much rarer sight on the roads. A fair comparison would be say a 3 series, Lexus IS, etc - something of similar calibre.
Expensive cars tend to look better because of the greater amount of prestige associated with them.

You didn't say it looked better you said it was greater than.

Shall I edit my post to say "CLS looks better than C Class imo"?

Or shall we presume that in a thread on the subject of looks of a car, with a picture of a car I'm referring to that that is what I meant?

Agreed, but you could buy a second-hand CLS for the price of a new C Class, so it's kind of a moot point.

Do you want to lose the attitude? It wasn't me that picked you up on it for a start.

*attitude lost* :) Just trying to defend my point. No offence intended.

On topic... Having seen both cars in the flesh, I much rather the CLS which admittedly looks a bit odd in that photo.

The new C Class, while being an improvement on the old, just looks very bland in comparison. I especially hate the other grill that is available on the luxury model. Looks like a cheap american 'Sedan'.

MMMmmmm

Having seen both of these in the flesh, I'm at a loss to reason why anyone would prefer the C over the CLS, looks-wise.

One is a horrific mish-mash of lines and proportion that was blatantly designed solely [and soullessly] to take on the rep market ["It's a bit Lexus, a bit BMW and it's got the biggest tristar this side of our commercial vans... it cannot fail, for sure!"]...

The other is a perfect blend of grace and aggression, sweeping curves and audaciously high sides that gives the car huge presence, and convincingly gives the impression that it's going 200mph even when standing still. I always thought that was the quintessential quality of a good-looking, desirable car.

I'm not normally a fan of Mercedes' designs, but credit where credit is due: I think they did a great job with the CLS.

Stunning as in good or stunning as in good looking?

If the former then I'd be prepared to accept it. It certainly isn't the latter.
Little from column A, little from column B. I love the whole rocket-ship-cum-luxo-barge thing it shares with the M5. And I will admit i hated the looks of it when i first saw it but, again like the E60 5 Series, it has grown on me. Mostly due to the massive sense of presence it has.

hehe i said cum

it's only the sport models which have that grill
i think it looks really good.. reminds me of the 500SEC

I love the new C Class, I think it looks very nice indeed. The CL63 AMG particularly so.

I'm not particularly fussed whether I'm told this is wrong by somebody who is so up on car design they drive a Renault :)

You jumped into this thread not because somebody posted about a C class but because a trigger was set when somebody got an E-number wrong for a 5 series :p

Love the new C-Class especially in AMG form. The aggressive front end knocks BMW's equivalent e90 for 6.

I prefer it over the e92 M3.
