I remember reading somewhere that 3 people have won the 1 Million Yen prize (£8,000).

1 Million Yen, at the time equivalent to around $8000 USD.

It was aired between 1986 and 1989 so I guess money was worth a bit more then

Slightly O/T but does anyone know the name of the Jap gameshow that had an assault course as the finale? I believe 1 man made it to the finish where the final obstacle was climbing up a vertical tunnel type thing, i know this is a little vague but i can't explain it better.

If you wanted to see a different take on it, search for the american version(called MXC - Most eXtreme Elimination challenge), it is absolutely hilarious. There are 2 guys that present the show and they put an american voiceover on the commentary.

the ninja warrior commentator is stuart hall i think but he's in serious mode rather than talk loads of rubbish about the school of science mode. i used to love takeshi's castle, though it's not quite the same when sober!

it is comedy gold..theres nothing like seeing people fall over in numerous ways..I like seeing them fall of high roller...they bend in the most unusual ways..that and the one where they had to run and throw themselves at what they hoped were paper doors..sometimes they were and sometimes they were not
