I completed my CELTA qualification in TEFL (or TESOL or EFL or whatever you want to call it) back in 2008 and for one reason or another never actually got a chance to use. So despite being qualified for 5 years I actually have 0 experience still.

Anyhoo, i've just got a couple of weeks work with a summer school starting next monday and i'm in a bit of a flap because i fear i may have forgotten everything i was taught :)

I was hoping that if anyone here has any experience with it they might be able to help me out with some useful online resources that i can use to brush up on what im supposed to know as well as lesson planning and whatnot.

I have of course google all of this but there are so many TEFL sites it boggles the mind and most of the forum seem to be completely dead hence me defaulting back to OCUK.

Any advice/help/etc would be greatly appreciated.

Didn't read, only came in to correct the spelling. Seems it's already been done :)

There are still a few corrections to be made. :p

I dont suppose anyone has any useful advice?

The best advice I can offer is to stop all thoughts of teaching English to foreigners, show them how to dig holes instead! Always stick to what you're good at! :D

My mum taught English as a second language a few years ago but by her own admission she is pretty hopeless with computers so i doubt that she knows of any online resources that could help you. If you have any specific questions that you'd like to ask i'll happily relay them to her though.

The one thing she found the most helpful to the students was to give slight pauses every few words when she was speaking because that gives the people listening the chance to work out what you have said before you move to the next thing

Dont worry too much about it. I would however, google classroom management techniques as much as possible.

The celta method will come back to you...remember warmer, intro TL, controlled task, freeform task, closing. And chuck in some vocab drills :)

If you get asked a question you cannot answer get the class to find out the answer for the next day haha.
