Has anyone opted out of receiving any leaflets or unaddressed promotional material via Royal Mail?

Yup I also think this.

It uses resources to create the letter, energy in transporting it, people's time, for you to throw it away, and even assuming you recycle, the bin lorry uses fuel, then energy to recycle it the other end etc.

So much energy wasted.

But it helps the economy.

I'm going to give this a go. A brick won't fit through the letterbox though. So it will have to be something smaller. I think I might have some old roofing tiles somewhere.

I already collect prepaid envelopes and swap the spam around, posting back one companies spam to another company in their envelope.

Hmm Smaller than a brick but fits through letter box. Let me think...

What are our posties view on these? I know mine considers it just more stuff he have to carry round and then try to remember which person has opted out incase they get it wrong and someone comes running after them.

I would rather not deliver them but it’s not really that big of a deal. We get a list of customers who have opted out and if it’s ur regular duty then you know who has opted out anyway.

I do get angry customers shout at me, they even say how would you like it if I put this through your door. I just reply I’m my own postman so I have to do it myself and like a big boy I just pick it up off the mat when I get in then straight into the recycling bin.

How do I opt out of these clowns constantly delivering someone else's post to my address?
My old next door neighbour gave the postman a beating for refusing to deliver his signed for mail at the end of his shift, instead of waking him up at 7.00 in the morning (he worked nights). It worked in a fashion, after a large fine and being put on probation his address was black listed and treated as if it had a loose and dangerous dog about the premises, so he had to go to the sorting office each day to pick it up. He claimed it was worth it though, he was a bit of a madman.

Less violent methods are to move, or swap houses with the wrong addressee :)

Is it ur address with someone else name or just a completely different address?
Different name and post code but same street, house number and town as me.

Wouldn't usually be bothered but it's been posted back through my door three times now and it's a car tax reminder.

I've so far written mis-delivered and WRONG POSTCODE on it. Other than attaching a Google Maps print out with this persons location I'm stuck :o

Cross out the street and town. Just leave the number and postcode visible. That’s all that’s needed to actually reach an address.

Please don’t bin the misdelivered post.

If you get post for someone who used to live at your address, cover your address, write ‘moved away’ ‘unknown at address’ etc then pop into a post box. Then hopefully, the organisations will eventually remove the person’s details off their databases. Binning the mail will make the organisations think the person still lives there. My parents used to get stuff for the previous owner. Did post back mail with ‘moved away’ on it. Now get nothing with the man’s name on it.

If you get stuff delivered to a different address to you, either hand post it or post mail in post box. Never bin it.

A few years ago, my parents were on holiday and popped round to water plants. Noticed a big envelope for the same house number but next street along. Went to the address. The couple were in the drive. Explained that this was misdelivered. They thanked me and it was their new wills!

When I lived in Leeds, they have multiple roads sharing the same word. So there was Close, Road, Street, Green, Grove, Avenue etc.

I lived in X Close with other X roads. Leeds has many of these. Often get things misdelivered. Then sometimes I never got my post as whoever got my mail binned it.

Would be great if I had a log burner. Probably enough fire starting material to get it going all winter. Nearly everything through our door goes directly into the recycling bin
