Has it really affected you?

I have no idea how much petrol even costs, when I am running low I fill up with Optimax, Super Unleaded or whatever other high octane fuel I can find. I think this costs about £45 a time.

I do this every time it runs out, which is every now and then.

I have NO idea what I spend on fuel in a month, it could be £50 it could be £200 I really don't think about it :/

Cant say its affected ME. I get free fuel supplied into the company car, but if it continues to go up then I fear the boss may start actually taking reductions from my salary for private mileage :(

Can see my trip to the Nurburgring costing a fortune in the private car though, averaging only 18-22mpg in the Prelude.

I was worried about it, but not anymore as I get a company car and my cupra just sits on the drive for the weekends. Company has just raised the rate or milage claims.

Not looking forward to the fuel bill for Le Mans though. Just means I won't be gunning it down there in France. Gonna have to move pretty quick to get from Southampton to Dover in 2 hours

I'd say by about £500 a year.
If I do on average 10k miles a year, at an average of around 27mpg, that works out to around £1930 a year with petrol at 115p.
If petrol was still 90p that annual fuel bill would be about £1500.

I just calculated 10000 miles at 27mpg at those prices and I saw a variance of £370

My income has increased due to tax changes so no affect here (intentionally forgets about car tax!) Even without the change it wouldnt be a bother as I only do about 8-10k a year, and there is NO public transport to my work, ONLY way is by driving or being driven :( (shows we are doing our bit for the environment!)

Yes.. i just dont sleep at night anymore. All i see is prices in my dreams.. its no good.

I might have to goto the docs about it. :(

A good friend of mine just announced he is selling his Impreza. He just uses it as a summer weekened toy, however with his standard commute costs rising and the business allowance staying the same he says he can no longer justify it's 20mpg.

People like him amaze me - he 'just uses it as a summer weekend toy' so he's going to sell it becuase of his business allowance and his commuting costs? Is he singing from the same random doom-mongering hymbook as yourself? Do you or anyone you know ever make a decision rationally?

Surely of all the people affected by increases in fuel costs its those with weekend toys - cars whose fuel use is purely for when you feel like it and not a neccesity - who are affected the least?

Even he takes his Impreza out for a blast every weekend without fail the increases can't be costing him more than about 30 quid a month! Yet he's selling becuase of this?

Yes, the end of the world is nigh and you should sell your car NOW before it's worth 37p. I know I am!

JEEZ, can he really afford to run it in the first place if his business allowance makes a difference to whether he can afford it or not?

yes and no when im just around locally doesnt affect me but when i do my 6-700 mile round trips say once to twice a month have noticed how much more it costs.. but i dont have any bills to worry about so i guess no :D
