Not really when you think that Google are the search engine monopoly, unless Microsoft can make the "Live" services tie in with any future operating system.

Seems like a rather monopolistic move, Yahoo doesn't have any amazing technology, surely with infinite cash MS can employ the best people and build their own search engine. but naa just buy em and steal some market share the easy way.

Google, MSN and Yahoo are probably the biggest 3 search engines. It would be better for consumers if a duopoly wasn't formed.

It already is a duopoly - Google v Everyone else.

Admittedly these number are from April 2007, but I can't see them having changed drastically. Google acheive more than double the hits of Yahoo! and MSN put together.
