Bit cheeky of google i think, they have the market monopoly and obviously don't want their 2 biggest rivals to get together, the regulators should ignore them but i bet they don't.
Microsoft don't have the majority of the market but i can see the EU getting all uptight because it's MS and not allowing the buyout, which in my opinion would be nothing more than blatant bias against MS.
Not on the same scale but when GAME bought out Gamestation it was the clear market leader buying out the second biggest, and that was allowed.

I don't really have a problem with MS buying Yahoo's search and advertising capability, as long as they are genuinely going to innovate in that area to challenge Google I think it's a positive move.This is about a lot more than just search and advertising though. For example Yahoo! owns Zimbra, an open source alternative to Exchange server. I'd hate to see Microsoft take control of that.

So Ballmer buys off a few more politicians in the US government to avoid the probe? A few more million in campaign donations isn't going to hurt Microsoft here.

Ahh i didn't realise they had things like Zimbra, i can't see MS continuing with it unless they had a major change of heart.

i just don't see how online apps are going to be used in the global business world.
I work for the EC and they are very security aware. I can't see them allowing you to write all your faxes etc online. (Who would have access for one thing?) I would think many (if not all) companies think the same way. Since the big money for companies like MS is the coroporate licencing I can't see where the money is.
