Hi, the other day I went to boot up my PC and noticed it was sat that windows load screen allot longer than normal. After a few minutes it switched to the blue windows Repair or Reinstall screen (I happened to have a XP disk in at the time)

I tried a repair which failed at which point the PC rebooted and starting claiming it could no longer find a HD, checked in BIOS and it was no longer listed. I then took an old hard drive out of another PC and tried booting up with that - this to could not be detected (However it came out of an old PC who's PSU blew in a very flashy way)

I tried both HDs on different SATA plugs on the motherboard and tried powering them with different cables off the PSU with no joy.

So... my question is, is it a clear cut HD failure or is it possible that the Motherboard is going fruity?

Im not sure if this is worth mentioning but for some reason I can no longer remove the CD fro mthe DVD drive (it just buzzes but doesn't eject the disk.)
The DVD drive is still showing in the BIOS though.

Ok I pluged the HD into a PC a work and It started up windows with no problems at all, so can anyone tell me what would cause my PC at home to suddenly stop seeing any HD pluged into it when I'd done nothing to the BIOS?
