Hello,

I made a post last week regarding my PSU, which i thought was screwed (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17629789). I went out and got a new Hiper580 type-R yesterday and connected it up, but i still have no joy and my pc will not start. With the old busted PSU the mobo leds did NOT light up, and it got REAL hot. With the new PSU all of the leds light up (4 red leds at bottom left, the standby power led, and the dram power led.... however when i try to switch the pc on using the external power switch and the onboard power button, nothing at all happens, not even a beep. Is my motherboard also broke? Anything at all that can be suggested to remedy the problem or must i buy a new mobo?

One other thing, if my old psu did indeed ruin my mobo, could it have affected any of the other components of my rig (see sig).

Cheers

Did you witness your PSU actually dying or did it just not turn on one day? EDIT: Just read your previous thread

If it went bang there is every chance it has taken some things with it.

The best thing to do really is to take everything out except the processor and see if it starts then (it'll beep due to no memory). If you've only got your motherboard and processor installed and it still doesn't work (and you know the new PSU isn't faulty) then obviously either your mobo or CPU is dead, or both.

ok, thanks for the quick reply, ill give that a try when i get home... BTW if i have all the components out, incl. the cpu, should the mobo fan over the NF4 chipset still start up?

Did you plug all 4 power connectors into the board, also read a few times over @ dfi as well that a 24hrs cmos clear can work wonders on these boards, could try that. g/l

Well i took everythin out apart from the processor and the 4 power connectors and get the same thing, the led's are on, but still nothing happens. The mobo does not beep despite there being no memory present. Im taking the chip, memory and gfx back home on monday so i can try it on my brothers pc and see if they work.
