Has QLED caught up with OLED for movies and HDR?

The 65" b8 on offer at the moment looks appealing. Do I care that b8 can't do HDR and HFR concurrently or is that a tech that will be relevant in 2-3yrs+

To be honest, even on the C8, which does support HDR and HFR concurrently, is only capable of doing so on the TV apps. HDMI2.1 will be required in order for HDR and HFR via external sources. This being the case, no current TV is equipped for this.

The C8 does provide better colour graduation over the B8; and I bought the C8 over the B8 for this reason. However, this is likely only noticeable in a side by side comparison. I can't imagine that you'd be disappointed with the B8; it's an amazing TV.

kinda what im holding out for. I want high frame rates and hdr for the inevitable arrivale of the ps5 which Im sure will support that

In that case, you'll need to wait for the HDMI2.1 models; as HFR and HDR simultaneously are unsupported on any current set. The 2019 LG OLEDs support this.

I managed to find a c8 65" for £2050 so pressed buy on that. It's being delivered this weekend - am delighted at price and to be joining OLED crew. The C8 processor is what I was really keen to get more for the speed of interface and potential future proofing than PQ improvmements.

Thanks to everyone for the help and guidance!

Good deal. It's the best all-round TV on the market in my view.

Don't be afraid to push for a replacement panel if it has visible banding in content. Some banding at 5% grey (in any screen) is normal; but it shouldn't be visible in content.
