Has your game preferences changed as you've got older ?

Mid thirties and my patience for learning new games is very low now, with games like factorio and rimworld I just start a fresh and a whole new adventure, usually with netflix on the 2nd screen. I'll buy a new game, fall asleep for 30 mins whilst biting my teeth and then give up and load an old game.

Not really if a games good it's good but i do tend to favour online competitive over single player

When I was younger one of my favourite games were Alien vs Predator (multiplayer) and Age of Empires.
Now, my favourites are Dying Light - Be the Zombie and Age of Empires still.

So, I guess not.

I wouldn't say my game preferences have changed, I enjoy all sorts still. But my patience is not as good. In days gone, I would quite happily spend a while trying to beat levels or whatnot but if I can't do something within 2 or 3 attempts, I just give up now and move on.

I used to play mostly FPS, RPG and racing games.

now I play mostly management and grand strategy/4x games,

most modern fps and racing games it's just more of the same old, they didn't really change much apart from the graphics.

bf 1942 I must have sank thousands of hours in to that one, the modern ones are all "meh"

I think I pretty much gave up on the BF series after bf2

Never an FPS player really, enjoyed playing through Halo with friends, and still enjoy Gears in the same way, but I don't think my tastes have varied greatly, more my free time (and consistency of that free time).

I've just turned 36 and yes, I've moved further away from FPS games any anything online multiplayer (exception is PUBG, where I'll occasionally play with friends with no pressure to do well).

I now play mostly RPGS, city builders, Footy Manager and the like. I prefer a slower pace that I can dip in and out of as time/ my mood / energy levels dictate. I do play the odd FPS game that has a good single player, but I turn the difficulty down :)

55 now, played all sorts, starting with a ZX Spectrum.
I focused heavily on FPS for a number of years, and ran a CS team for a while. 5 years in WOT. Been very much put off competitive multiplayer by the attitudes of just too many of the players (e.g. the hackers (CS), bots (WoT) etc).

Took up flying with Elite first, at least until they killed it with new updates that made the gameplay worse and not better. Moved onto DCS and that is just something else. It's like peeling an onion, i.e. learn to fly, then learn to follow flight procedures, then learn how to use various systems/weapons. Then introduce cooperation with team mates, then try putting it all together in a combat environment. Deeper than many strategy games in many ways, but still requires both coordination and tactics.
Has not only the challenge, is incredibly rewarding. The nice final point is that once you get past the "noise" of the "entitled" on the forums, has a brilliant community, and some really good squadrons.

I seem to be against the tide here. Most of my young days were MMORPG's, but now it's mostly just FPS purely because you can load it up for an hour and just dive straight in. RPG's tend to be big time-sinks that require lot of time spent skilling, or questing, or doing whatever to get decent gear or visit better areas etc.

I feel like it might actually be games related rather than age related?

I'm 20 but feel like FPS games and other multiplayer games are just getting boring now. I only really play co-op games now like The Forest or Diablo 3 where you can go at your own pace.

Used to be able to spend months playing Battlefield 2 when I was younger :P

Late 40's
I have sight issues so tend to play single player open world. I still play GTA Online with a GTA friend but can not do any PvP

RDR2, NMS, Scrap mechanic, ETS 2, Farming sim and Elite, again PvE.

My PC is pretty much my eyes to the world so spend most of my time here or in bed but it is getting less and less.

I don't want a challenge much, I prefer character building and visuals. I've been playing Fallen Jedi recently and don't mind dropping down to easy setting to get past the tougher opponents. I like the story to flow and I hate repeating levels like Dark Souls etc..

I game to relax and get some escapism, I don't need to be stressed with tough boss battles. Glossy story driven is what I'm after - the first 2hrs of Death Stranding were awesome. :)

Stay away MP more and more everything ends up being toxic and full of cheaters. Cant be bothered with FPS games anymore 90% of them is a full time job to level up some weapon or something. Really enjoyed PubG i liked the slower pace until bunghole did nothing about cheaters and made nothing but appalling decisions nased on idiot streamers who think they know best.

Play GrimDawn a lot, dabble with elite dangerous every now and then. Not even going to bother upgrading the PC again unless cyberpunk turns out to be good and maybe star citizen in 2030 or something.

35 this november, and i find myself less interested in the FPS genre for example, and more interested in stealth games, RPGs etc, anyone else feel the same ?

I'm in my 50s and can't do twitch games anymore. Not being able to use a mouse doesn't help either.

I think it's normal. I'm 44 and pretty-much only ever played FPS games for 20+ years, but I completely lost interest over a year ago and haven't played one since.

Tend to play slower-paced strategy and simulators now, with a bit of VR on the side.

I think if you've got a good group of mates to do shooters with then it's easier to stay interested, but mine all lost interest the same way I did.
