Hi Guys,

I took your advice and decided to wait till Hasbro was released before building rig as was going to build an i7 3770K. Can anyone recommend components suitable for the latest i7 Hasbro 4770K, I don't need a GFX card as i currently have an ATI 7850 HD 2GB Power Edition to overclock, I need all components on a budget of arround £1000 or can stretch slightly more if required.

Main tower yes, no GFX needed, no OS needed and don't require SLI or Crossfire option yet as im not looking to change GFX card yet, just a mobo that will not bottleneck the GFX card and provide it's full potential so a decent motherboard not cheap and also extremely fast RAM.

Why extremely fast Ram? Over 1600Mhz does not effect gaming.

Also regarding the new motherboards that are arround £300+ is there a need to invest in those for long term? Also regarding the RAM would you recommend 2666MHZ not just for gaming but good for rendering and stress testing?

Fast RAM will be really helpful for rendering and the 4770k will be a perfect pair. Motherboard wise, the more you spend on it will reflect the gadgets available as well as the build quality. I wouldn't say there is a need to invest in a mobo at that price for your needs, possibly £150-£190 tops, the Gigabyte board Stuli has spec'd is a great board as too is the Z87X-D3H.

The great thing about Gigabyte is the UK RMA and their build quality. Similar to Asus, they are second to none.

As for stress testing. Every component is good for stress testing, not matter how slow or fast if you are stress testing that component. All stress testing would do is push the RAM to its maximum performance. It is kind of hard to comprehend. Stress testing is just finding the components maximum performance and holding it there. So 1333Mhz RAM would stress test as well as 2666Mhz RAM as they would both just hold their maximum performance. They would benchmark different, but buying more expensive stuff just to stress test it is silly. You would just be buying more expensive stuff to test if it works.

EDIT: Do you mean better for Benchmarking? Then yes 2666Mhz is better.

Sorry yes bechmarking is what i meant, the motherboard linked it won't bottle neck the GFX card in any way and also the ram is supported?

Wondering if you could find me quad channel RAM if possible if the MB supports it?

Oh ok didn't realise sorry scratch that silly me, what's the advantage of getting a more expensive Z87 motherboard then ones listed before

Do you mean boards such as the Gigabyte OC force/Asus maximus extreme6?

They are just geared to even more overcloking (liquid nitrogen/water cooling etc).

The ones mentioned above will do you well, or a board between those two is the Ud3H.

You also get 4 way SLI+Crossfire support as those two boards have a PLX chip to add the extra PCI-E lanes required.
