At least the x79 is lasting for 2 rounds of CPUs, better than 1366, 1156, 1155.

Maybe they will let the next socket for x99 last more than 1 round of CPUs too. Then I would consider the higher price.

Still going strong on 1366 and its lasted just fine thanks. Haswell is beginning to look like another disappointment, X79 is a possible upgrade path but getting long in the tooth its self. Might skip both and go for X99 next year.

It all depends on performance - can the Haswell provide a significant enough boost over the 920 for me to upgrade to it? For gaming? It will be interesting to see the benchmarks.
