Haswell Overclock Thread

It's working fine for me, though I did have trouble with drivers (crashing after login on windows) initially. That's been solved though and I'm quite happy with the upgrade from Q6600. I do agree though that if you've got a reasonably powerful system already there's really no need to upgrade to Haswell, particularly for gaming.

Installed mobo drivers?

If so, and you're confident you have done everything right then yes, DSR and get Ivy, SB-E or wait for IB-E.

Seems like a flop this platform for those that like to have room to ticker. I don't have the platform, this is just from what I'm reading.

Or maybe he should get a CPU that works. It's faster than the previous CPUs if not overclocked too..

Thats great but i want to clock higher, will water cooling make the temps drop a fair bit? All other settings are at default. Also noticed my bus speed is 99.77 and not 100.

Logic says better cooler, lower temps, but it appears to be down to silicon lottery, post 257 says it all. I have the same issue with bus speed, don't know what's going on, can anyone through some light on this?

?

Ill leave it at that.

Erm good for you chief. Why should he get ivy? It's hot too. There's plenty of room to tinker with haswell. If his cpu is unstable at stock then it needs to be rmad yes. But that would be the same as any duff cpu. He should get another haswell as ultimately it's a good cpu. Coming from someone who does have one..

Dude. I already said I don't have one - i have a much better platform ;-) He asked a question and I answered based on objectivity (ie shed loads of reviews and opinions saying it is disappointing for overclockers...but the imc is good). He never said he wanted pusuading to keep Haswell.

Read my ? As you have gone off the point of his post and my reply.

Post 257 gives an opinion that you might get one that clocks badly (4.2 ahh) and i would hazard can't beat ivy or maybe even sandy speeds. Too much chance, but luckily you seem to have a good one.

I have now successfully managed to overclock my Haswell running stable @ 4.6Ghz and with Vcore @ 1.259

Been running now for days and long time with Aida64 etc.....well pleased

My system was an originally an O/C bundle from xxxx running @ 4.4Ghz

Using a Corsair H70 / H80 liquid cooler, idles at around 28 degrees and under a full stress test touches around 82 degrees, normal use at around 40 degrees...well pleased

I've just bought a 4770k and Asus Z87-A motherboard and I must say this is the flakiest (is that even a word) system I have ever put together...

To say I'm not happy with it is an understatement. I've not even began to delve into the overclocking side as this thing isn't even stable at stock. Applications/games just disappear when using them, until the system blue screens...

I'm seriously thinking about DSR'ing this and getting a 3770K and Z77 motherboard as this system has given me lots of issues in the last 2 days that I've had it - it' doesn't boad well for the machine in the long run.

I had to flash the bios to get it to recognise my PCI ASUS Xonar Sound card, which is kind of ironic..

Not happy at all :(

I use 1007 bios, no issues.same board.
your motherboard/ram seems unstable.

Might want to remove competitors name from your post - just a suggestion.

Faulty component or new platform teething problems. Figuring out what is what and resolving can be a massive pita so I don't blame him for considering going back a gen to a mature platform/combo.

+1

For the benefits I'm reading about...heck I went forward to Sandy only a couple months ago...admittedly -E
